Dollhouse visitors

Friday, October 17th, 2008

Yasmin and her mum, Portia, are visiting the Dollhouse. Portia was of course very critical, she noticed immediately that the floors in the kitchen and bathroom are yet to be redone, well… actually both the rooms are still in progress.

Despite that she would gracioulsy have agreed to move in, the house though is already taken by Momoko and Arianna, so no chance there.

Another fleamarket…another great day – part 1

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

Today, as you well know by now, we visited another fleamarket and again I brought back lots of stuff for absolutely great prices. Most of it will end on ebay but I plan to keep few things. Of course if anybody see something he/she would like to have please raise your hand and we’ll see if we can find an agreement ;-)

So, just to start, a huge lot of Tyco Quints dolls plus a Bouncin’ Babies house. I don’t know the dolls the house was intended for but it came with the Tyco sets so I took it. The furniture sets are so sweet, the cradle with 5 little bears and other small accessories is damn cute:

Another nice structure I’ve got (Barbie size) is this “airport check-in desk” that folds into a case. I paid it a bit more than I wanted but I think it is great to display dolls dressed as flight assistants, it is made by Simba, I never saw it around before:

I also found some Barbie furniture accessories and pets, here below a nice vanity table from the’80 (quite big actually) with few small accessories, not mint but still very nice to display:

then some drawers on wheels (not sure how they are called in english) for an hairdresser shop, I plan to use them in the girls bathroom:

the pets are Barbie dog Beauty (he needs a good wash) and one cat plus 2 other ones that don’t look barbie stuff but came with the feline:

I also got a Barbie bed (complete with bedsheets) and some clothes but we forgot the bag in the car, we’ll pick it up today and perhaps post some pictures tomorrow or later one.

Here below some random pictures of miniatures I found, the oriental vase was 50 cents, Arianna was just thrilled when she spotted it. The “paintings” are really  a good fit for 1/6 scales figures and the clock is a pencil sharpener. I plan to use some of them for an antique shop I would like to do:

I told Arianna the perfume bottle was just to big but she thinks it will display beautifully on her vanity desk and at that point I had no energy left to quarrel over it so we took it.

As usually too much stuff for one single post so, if you are still reading it ;-) go to part two for the DOLLS!

New shopping for the dollhouse

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Arianna is really happy, today she got  some pillows she bought on ebay for the house.

What we both like about them are the fabrics used, here are a couple of pictures:

we also took out a different tea set for the lounge room and she started complaining about the small coffee table, we’ll look for a replacement, something better suited for the oriental style of the room:

next weekend is flea-market time again so hopefully I will find something there :-)

Dollhouse update

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

My Dollhouse furnishing is still in progress and I’m enjoying a lot looking for small things to decorate it.

Actually I enjoy it much more than decorating my own flat since it is less expensive and I don’t need to move heavy furniture around :-)

Here is what I found yesterday at our usual supermarket, I believe they are the right size and they were priced 2 euros each, two small decorative statues for the balcony, are they not sweet?

Back from Italy…small finds.

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Here I am :-)

Finally…As much as I like to go back to my country I admit I’m not used anymore to live with my mother and after few days I miss my flat.

Anyway, as usually we did a bit of shopping while there and looked for dolls stuff. I didn’t find as much as I hoped (tons of fairies/princesses dolls like here) but I still managed  to pickup a couple of sweet things.

I bought these 2 little bears:

I really love the one on the left and I thought my sister-in-law could like it as well so I bought two of them, just in case.

Then I went to visit my cousin , who has a shop in Venice where he sells glass stuff and bought this cute nativity set made of glass, I love it and it will display very nicely at Xmas time:

Ah…almost forgot…I also got some cute flowers for my girls:

Fleamarket today! And other great finds-part 1

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

Today I was all set to clean my messy flat, fill in some forms I need to go trough  and other boring stuff. When we got up though, quite late by the way, my husband announced he just saw on internet that today there was one of the 2 big flea-markets we try to go to once a month in Düsseldorf. On top of that the weather was great. Needless to say the flat was left uncared and off we went.

I was not hoping to find great stuff since 2 weeks ago I was pretty lucky at the other big flea-market but obviously people are in need of money for their holidays and are emptying their cellars So, here is what I’ve got…To start with, some nice miniature decorative dishes with stand, all mint, and barbie size:

They are much nicer than in the pictures! They are supposed to be one for each season but I’ve got only 3 sorts so obviously one season is missing, still very nice though. They are marked “Marco Polo”.

Then I’ve got this, I couldn’t believe when the seller asked 3 euros for it, I just grabbed it, paid, an run away before he could change his mind:

I think it is from 1974-75, in very good conditions and destined to ebay :-)

My Momoko  on the other way was absolutely thrilled when she saw what I’ve got for the dollhouse oriental lounge-room. It was the find of the day, minor faults, perfectly scaled and great price:

Oh boy, I really think I could bore you but I absolutely need to show my finds off.

Second barbie score of the day was this barbie house in a plastic case, I think it is from the seventies, but I couldn’t find it ony my book about Barbie Structures & Furniture. It comes with tons of accessories and great backdrops:

For the rest of my finds (still lot to come) see part 2 of this post ;-)

A dollhouse? No! a hobbit dollhouse!

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

Still browsing around, looking, actually gaping at amazing dollhouses made by incredibly talented people.

Have a look at this one, a Hobbit Dollhouse! If you want more background about the “history” of it ready here what the owner and creator has to say. By the way, the house is 1:12.

I’m totally fascinated by her work and I wish I could have one in 1:6 scale for my LOTR Barbie dolls.

New Purchase for the house

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Today Arianna received a new big vase she purchased last week for the House.

She didn’expect it to be delivered so quickly, neither did I. We both loved it!

Dolls House – another pair of pictures

I just found these pictures amongst the many ones we took yesterday, not sure if my husband or my sister-in-law took them but I love both:

Dolls House-customized furniture

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Here finally are the furniture we customized. They were originally orange and white but with lot of yellowing and quite scuffed. Ursula also replaced the top of what was initially an old fashion TV set and made it into a second sit for the girls:

I love the colour-scheme and it fits beautifully the house.
