Books and fabrics
Wednesday, August 27th, 2008Today was our last day off and my husband suggested going to Düsseldorf.
I go there every day to work but we didn’t go shopping together in town for a long time so I grabbed the chance and off we went. We went to all the shops we used to visit when we were still living in Düsseldorf and it took us almost 5 hours (with some pizza, cake and drinking breaks in between)
I looked for dollies but unfortunately nothing interesting but I’ve got anyway nice stuff. One of the big stores with a huge selection of fabrics had sales on some of them and here below is what I’ve got for my girls. Some of them are much better than in the pictures:
I then bought this in a shop selling imported books and goods form Japan, Düsseldorf has a big japanese community. It is about traditional Children Kimonos, I just loved it! It is visually stunning, it was expensive but I really couldn’t leave it there. I have a nice small collection of dolls in kimonos, I find them so charming. Here some random pages:
The book is japanese-english bilingual and together with each picture it gives an explanation of what is the fabric used and during which occasions is used. Very very nice
Last but not least we went to my beloved bookshop and got some books, while browsing around I saw this one and bought it for my sister-in-law:
It is a touristic guide to go around Rome …in the past!!! I found it so cute and it gives tons of information about daily life, places to visit, things to do…of course if you could travel back in time.
My sister-in-law is doing lot of research for 1/6 scale project set in the antic Rome and I think she could use it. Really informative Ursula!
Well, that’s all for today, I’m going to iron
