Books and fabrics

Today was our last day off and my husband suggested going to Düsseldorf.

I go there every day to work but we didn’t go shopping together in town for a long time so I grabbed the chance and off we went. We went to all the shops we used to visit when we were still living in Düsseldorf and it took us almost 5 hours (with some pizza, cake and drinking breaks in between) :-)

I looked for dollies but unfortunately nothing interesting but I’ve got anyway nice stuff. One of the big stores with a huge selection of fabrics had sales on some of them and here below is what I’ve got for my girls. Some of them are much better than in the pictures:

I then bought this in a shop selling imported books and goods form Japan, Düsseldorf has a big japanese community. It is about traditional Children Kimonos, I just loved it! It is visually stunning, it was expensive but I really couldn’t leave it there. I have a nice small collection of dolls in kimonos, I find them so charming. Here some random pages:

The book is japanese-english bilingual and together with each picture it gives an explanation of what is the fabric used and during which occasions is used. Very very nice :-)

Last but not least we went to my beloved bookshop and got some books, while browsing around I saw this one and bought it for my sister-in-law:

It is a touristic guide to go around Rome …in the past!!! I found it so cute and it gives tons of information about daily life, places to visit, things to do…of course if you could travel back in time.

My sister-in-law is doing lot of research for 1/6 scale project set in the antic Rome and I think she could use it.  Really informative Ursula!

Well, that’s all for today, I’m going to iron :-(
