Beauty and Fashion ad campaigns

Monday, July 13th, 2009

If you didn’t gather that yet I LOVE FASHION. I really love clothes, costume jewels, shoes, bags etc etc. And what I also like are fashion ad campaigns, well…not all of them but most (by the way…not dolls related but I love Christian Laboutin new fall/winter campaign)

Sometimes it’s not even the clothes I like but rather the pictures themselves, the “story” built up to sustain the campaign or even just a concept or idea that make that campaign particularly fascinating for me.

And what delights me even more are fashion ads with dolls or puppets as testimonials!!!  Look for example at the characters created to appear in the print ads for Cotton Incorporated. I believe the characters have been created a couple of years ago and they look just awesome!!!

And they remind me of the Harvey Nichols ad campaign featuring Wallace & Gromit from lat year. It was created for the opening of the Bristol store. Here you can see some of the pictures from this stunning campaign and read a full review of it, and here below a video from the backstage:

Not to mention the one from Alexander McQueen with Blythe modeling miniature copies the designer past year collection.

And look at this one! It is the advertisement for some hair care products: the brand is Livon

This is not the only one available on youtube. I love them, the dolls look so alive. I actually wonder dolls are they. If anybody know let me know please :-)

Dolls & Fashion

I don’t know if it is me only noticing it now for the first time but wherever I look I keep seeing dolls and fashion brands together. I love dolls and clothes so I’m pretty happy about this ongoing trend but I wonder if it is indeed happening only this year or if it was the case also before and I didn’t see it.

Here below you can see the Alexander McQueen new advertisement campaign with Blythe

Here a quick peek at the Exhibition “Barbie & Ken by Karl Lagerfeld” hosted by Colette in Paris. By the way check the Barbie merchandising, some of the T-shirts are just fabulous.

What about the Lanvin porcelain dolls featuring clothes from the spring 2009 collection? I love them, pity they are too pricey for my pocket :-(

And have you seen the Fafinette dolls by MAC? I actually would love to have the make-up as well just for the gorgeous packaging! But of course no sign of it in Germany :-(

I managed though to get hold in Italy of some Harajuku Lovers perfumes (the coffret containing the 5 solid perfumes) and a lingerie set by Yamamay issued as a special for San Valentine and “inspired” by Barbie, absolutely cute! So cute I will most probably never wear it :-)
