Barbie as Lady Gaga

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

Not sure if any of you still hasn’t seen the last incarnation of our favourite doll, but if you didn’t check it here, just amazing!

On the flickr stream of the artist you can even find a tutorial on how some of the Alender McQueen inspired shoes were made.

The Fashionistas-Barbie loves P&C update

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

So…my sister-in-law found them!!! I’m so excited. I’m normally very happy when I meet with her, we have always a nice time together but I’m never been so keen on meeting with her as now since when it happens she will deliver the dolls to me :-D .

You can see both on my flickr account and her german blog the pictures she took of the dolls in the box. Also she posted few pictures of the Artsy Fashionistas on her flickr account. They look gorgeous!!!

Thanks again Ursula!

Dolls & Fashion

Friday, March 20th, 2009

I don’t know if it is me only noticing it now for the first time but wherever I look I keep seeing dolls and fashion brands together. I love dolls and clothes so I’m pretty happy about this ongoing trend but I wonder if it is indeed happening only this year or if it was the case also before and I didn’t see it.

Here below you can see the Alexander McQueen new advertisement campaign with Blythe

Here a quick peek at the Exhibition “Barbie & Ken by Karl Lagerfeld” hosted by Colette in Paris. By the way check the Barbie merchandising, some of the T-shirts are just fabulous.

What about the Lanvin porcelain dolls featuring clothes from the spring 2009 collection? I love them, pity they are too pricey for my pocket :-(

And have you seen the Fafinette dolls by MAC? I actually would love to have the make-up as well just for the gorgeous packaging! But of course no sign of it in Germany :-(

I managed though to get hold in Italy of some Harajuku Lovers perfumes (the coffret containing the 5 solid perfumes) and a lingerie set by Yamamay issued as a special for San Valentine and “inspired” by Barbie, absolutely cute! So cute I will most probably never wear it :-)

New Fashion Fever Barbie dolls on the block

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Today is finally friday (ok, I will work on Sunday but I try to forget it for the moment) and it was pay-day so during my lunch break I went around shops looking for dolls :-)

I had almost given up hope to find something nice and cheap when in the last shop I entered I saw new FF dolls, uauhhh!!! They are awesome and just 10 euros each so I grabbed a Barbie (I love pink hair) and Teresa since she was the only one they had, but I think I will go back for more:-)

Here they are , in all their splendour:

Actually Teresa’s outfit is really purple and not blueish like in the picture but this is the best I could get with artificial light. Here they are out of the box:

The hair on Barbie are uneven, like usually, but still much better than on some Collectible dolls:

They have beautiful faces, no so broad like in some of the last Mattel playline dolls:

and I love their clothes, purple is my favourite colour and I like the combination of black and pink:

What else to say? I definitely need to go back and get more of them :-)

Flea-markets finds

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Since I didn’t update my blog in the first 2 weeks of September there was no report on my Flea-market finds. Unfortunately the autumn is catching up on us and most probably these were the last ones we visited for this year, even if I hope not :-)

Here is what I’ve got recently, a nice small lot of Barbies from the seventies and outfits:

I think the Barbie in the yellow dress is an original Superstar and she’ still wearing her original jewellery. I really like the Ken dolls, the one with brown hair is basically mint. This lot will be kept, properly pimped up and displayed :-)

Last week I found then a nice lot from the ‘80:

and an Elvis Presley Mattel doll. I’m not particularly fascinated by the character or the figure but I really liked the uniform and I thought 10 euros was an acceptable price for it:

So, that’s all for the moment, let’s cross fingers we still have a couple of good flea-markets weekends in front of us :-)

Sneak preview of my antiquarian shop

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

I  finally started to put together the antiquarian shop and I realized I need much more props, I want it to be really jam packed like a real shop, here anyway is a first peak into it:

Am I getting Lazy?

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

I realized now I didn’t write any new post for 2 weeks!!! Uauhhh!!! But life here has been pretty busy recently and I had no time. The main problem is that I’ve got lots of new dollies and clothes I would like to take nice pictures of but I come home too late, the sun is already setting down by the time I’m back and the last two weekends have been packed.

I’ve received in meantime my Juku Couture dolls from US, my nice Teen Trends dolls from a very nice seller on ebay and gorgeous outfits for them :-) We visited quickly a flea market last Sunday and got few great Barbies from the ‘70. I really hope to have time the upcoming weekend to play with all of them and take pictures. I need some quality time with my girls!!!

So…all of this to say…I’m not getting lazy, just too busy ;-)

Sorting out

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Still enjoying my days off and today I decided  to sort my dolls clothes out. My own wardrobe would need  a bit of tidying up as well, but taking care of the small clothes is much more fun and while doing it I get to play!

Here is how my lounge-room looked one hour ago:

We’ve got the small chests of drawers from IKEA last saturday and my hubby built them up for me :-)

I had a great clean-out and put a huge lot of clothes on ebay. I also redressed a couple of girls I’ve got at the flea-market and put them on ebay as well.

They look so great washed, redressed and all groomed up that I was tempted to keep them but I really would like avoiding for the moment to add more barbies to my collection. Here they are:

I really love barbies from the ‘70 and ‘80 and compared to the skinny ones they sell now in the shops, the ones from this period look even plumpy :-)

Fleamarket time! Again :-)

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Finally I have a long weekend, 5 days free!!! I’m so happy and as usually I planned to do much more than at the end I will manage to accomplish in just few days off :-)

I should also do boring stuff as ironing, cleaning the bathroom and so on and sofort :-( but yesterday the weather was lovely and we went to a fleamarket.

I found quite few nice things but the highlight of the day was her!!!!!

I was almost fainting when the man said he wanted 10 euros, the box is bashed but the doll is NRFB, a shaping up Sindy, beautiful and untouched.

I also got a couple of Strawberry Shortcakes, they are the new issues, not the vintage ones from the’80 but I found them equally cute and picked up also some nice nursery dolls furniture by the same seller:

And then again some nice dolls for my dolls, included a lovely cabbage patch kid and a miniature dollhouse, they are lovely:

Then some random Barbie dolls from end of the ‘80, beginning of the ‘90, they already having a bath, enjoying a long deserved shampoo:

With them I picked also some nice furniture, again from the ‘80 and a couple of barbie miniatures.

Another nice doll I’ve got is this Pocahonats , she’s 40 cm and worth each of the 3 euros I paid for her LOL

I also got some other minor stuff, see some of them here:

Anyway, my house is now overflowing with toys, I mean…more than usually and I need to made a bit of space around so I think I will try to post some of it soon on ebay. Stay tuned…

Fleamarket time!!!

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

As you all know by now I’m really a fleamarket freak and here around in the area there’s enough to satisfy my greed ;-) Yesterday though for the first time we went to one in Bonn (quite few kilometres away) and…oh boy..I never saw such a big one. After more than 3 hours we had covered not even half of it and we decided to head back home. The weather was lovely, I saw plenty of stuff around but many things were “ebay price range” so I didn’t take them. I still picked up a couple of nice things for great prices.

I found one of the super-size ballerina Nutcracker that were in stores few years ago for 60 euros. She’s mint, still with her jewel kept in place by the vinyl strings, she’s beautiful(I will keep her) and I paid the whooping price of 3 euros:

I also got 2 Midge dolls, one with her original jewellery and some cute Barbie accessories. The LP player is a wind-up toy and when you charge it, the small disc really rotates, it is so cute, also the writing machine is very detailed (to be Mattel stuff) even if on the smallish size. The clock is terrible in pink but for once really a good size, not a clock for dwarf dolls:

Totally different but great is this sort of chest I found, it fits nice with dolls in 1/6 scale, and then I love this handpainted small miniature “paintings”, I think all of them we’ll decorate my long-planned Antiquities shop:

I also got a couple of very cheap miniature on the way out, at that point we were a bit lost and overwhelmed so too tired to keep watching:

All of the above was bought for 14 euros, did I mention I love german Fleamarkets? ;-)
