Experimenting…

Monday, May 24th, 2010

…with Akvis Artwork. I’m in my software-junkie mood and here are some of my experiments with the trial of Akvis. You can apply a “oil paint”, “cartoon” or “Pen and Ink” filter to your pictures. The program is extremely easy to use, I’m not so sure about the results for the moment

I like the carton filter:

but not so much the oil painting effect:

and definitely not the Ink and pen:

On the other side the software has a quite a range of settings you can play around with (including the thickness of the strokes just to mention one) so most probably I was just too lazy to try a bit harder :) and I should have a good look into them.

Experimenting with PhotoScape

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

I’m always on the hunt for good (possibly free) photo editors and I just found PhotoScape!!! I had to say it really looks great. It comes equipped with lots of filters and batch editing. The interface is really nice and it is very intuitive to use. I just started exploring it but here are some of my experiments:

100_4411-box 100_4411-cartoon

and many more.

Software

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

I’m not sure you noticed but I’m a software junkie :-P I love to get software for free and with all what is available on the net (as freeware, open source or promo offers) the choice is really endless. Here just some (but really few) of the things available around:

PaperCut 1.1.1 Alpha

“A software for creating, decorating, and printing paper models for assembly” found via wareseeker.

The Doll Collector Professional (to keep track of your collection if you have enough patience).

What looks like a cute game to try, for a bored adult or to keep busy for a while a child : Fashion Cents, the trial limited version is free but the complete full version is not.

And, last but not least, Google SketchUp for your dioramas and modelling activities, it is an awesome software, I just never seem to find the time to dig into it :-)
