Talking about the Steampunk Ellowyne pattern in the previous post reminded me of a beautiful Dress-up game I saw on Deviantart: Clockwork Couture. Already the name is great and the flash doll is absolutely cute but look at the clothes! They are really detailed and sophisticate, I would love to have them for a real doll. Mhhhh….I could try to persuade my sister-in-law to give a go at sewing them
And…not dolls related…but always gaming, I’m downloading Gatheryn, an online game set in a Steampunk world. It is still in Beta version but the screenshots look interesting. The only downside is that most probably my laptop is not up to the task, I remember when I downloaded Forbidden City: I didn’t go much further than that unfortunately we’ll see what happens.
I was browsing around for some quality reading (AKA dolls reading) and I found the digital version of “Fashion/ Forward“, a mini magazine (a supplement to Dolls Reader) dedicated to fashion for dolls. I love that the outfits and accessories are presented and described as in real fashion magazines.
Brenda Cox is one the designers reviewed in this issue, look at her beautiful creations for our favorite doll: Barbie! and start to dream
Don’t miss though the preview of Gene paper dolls and the review of the a steampunk bride dress and pattern for Ellowyne: you can download the instructions and patterns itself here.
The only disappointment is that you cannot download the mag as PDF file but..oh well…we’ll survive.
If after this dolls and fashion galore you are still lusting for more check out the Dolls magazine. From the home page you can download (as PDF!!!) the digital preview of their December issue. They are just few pages but really nice I’m totally in love now with Goodreau Upside Down Oz collection!
I’ve been surfing quite a bit in the last few days Here is a selection of nice dolls-related tutorials I stumbled upon while looking for other stuff and I thought about saving the links and sharing with you all.
I’m looking forward to watching the new Walt Disney animated movie: “The Princess and the Frog” (on the other side”Coraline” still didn’t show up in Germany). On youtube you can find quite few videos with trailers and drawings of the movie, here is one where you can see already some of the dolls that will be marketed (please do not tell me they are already on sale in US!):
Let’s see if the dolls will make it to Europe….mhhh…I have a bad feeling about it
Totally unrelated but very interesting in my eyes is this gallery of pictures about the making of Barbie on designboom. As written on the site itself “designboom features steps of barbie making, from a designer’s point of view” . Let me know what you think!
I’m not sure I ever let this out but I love clothes, bags, shoes, costume jewellery, make-up….ok …ok…I think you’ve got the picture
The only thing restraining me by buying even more (and trust me…I buy enough) is money and my weight. All of this to say that today I got totally fascinated by a new site I landed on: Polyvore!!!
You can create sets putting together pictures of clothes and fashion accessories like this one below (not created by me):
Even if you are not a Dookie-poo fan, have a look at the amazing paper-craft sets published on Dookie-poo paperjam, they are amazing and for free! I bet they could suit other small dolls.
Surfing around I found a nice blog called “Position:absolute”. It doesn’t seem to be updated very often but all the posts deal with topics I’m interested in like photography, IT stuff, even a bit of art. I landed there because of this absoultely great post about designer paper toys, lots of nice toys for free, papertoys of course Amongst all of them I love the paper ghettoblaster, I wonder about the scale though.
I hope you are all enjoying your weekend and if you have any nice link to share with me and my readers, please do so! We collectors spend so much money on our toys that it is nice to get some freebies now and then
I discovered recently the “Giveaway of the Day” site. I love it! Each day you can download for free a licensed software, I mean…something that normally comes with a price tag on it (I’m not talking about trial versions or sharewares/freewares). The offer is limited to one day so you have just 24 hours to grab it free of charge! One of the things I downloaded is “Wondershare Photo Collage Studio”. You can create with it greetings cards, digital scrap albums and calendars amongst other things.
Playing around with it I decided to give it a go in creating a small dolls calendar. The application is quite powerful and it has quite few options you can set to change the appearance of your documents, but I just took the standard template, didn’t edit anything at all and just dropped my pictures in.
Here are the first 4 months:
If I have the time I would like to play around more with it, take new pictures and perhaps offer a calendar (PDF format) to my readers for end of December. Or perhaps I could post a couple of months as high definition pictures each month…
