New girls in the house

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

This week I’ve been pretty sick with a terrible flu I have no idea where I got from , still I managed last weekend to go to a Barbie fair :-) I thought it was just a mild cold, I didn’t realize it was just the beginning :-(

Anyway…I really splashed out this time! I bought the Diva Jazz Baby:

I love her! She has the most beautiful face I saw on a Barbie in a long time and she comes with lots of accessories, included 3 wigs.

Then I couldn’t resist and bought also Feelin’ Fierce Dani:

and…the Jonathan Adler sofa! I cannot believe I spent so much in 1 single day ;-)

I posted some pictures of them on my flickr account.

Tutorials

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

I’ve been surfing quite a bit in the last few days :-) Here is a selection of nice dolls-related tutorials I stumbled upon while looking for other stuff and I thought about saving the links and sharing with you all.

Washi paper dolls

Make a Barbie card

How to make Dolls bedding

How to make a Dollhouse sofa

How to make a Felt Matrioska doll via Feltorama

How to make miniature dolls hats (this is much simpler than all the other tutorials about miniature hats I saw)

How to knit an Harry Potter doll ( I’m not able to )

Let me know if you try any of them :-)

Flea-market time!!!

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

So…despite having played Munchkins till 1 am yesterday night and having drunk several glasses of wine in the process (this last one together with a friend of ours, my husband doesn’t drink) we managed to get up fairly early today and be in Bonn at 9:15 :-)

The flea-market was as I remembered: huge and with some sellers having ebay prices, but I still I managed to buy quite  a lot with the 21 euros spent for what you see below..

I got a nice high-chair and pram, shelly size:

100_4287 100_4288

I love the fact that they have the Fisher Price label on them, like real ones, and they match some other nursery accessories I bought with another set.

Believe it or not, at 2,50 euros each they were the most expensive stuff I bought today :-)

I got a sweet Monchichi, not vintage but original for 1 euro:

she’s minty minty and in need of clothes.

Then a LLL StrongHeart  prince for 50 cents ;-)

100_4323

and this beautiful Teresa with original dress:

100_4308 100_4309

I really like the Teresa face mold, in case you didn’t know this yet :-D

I picked up lots of  Tupperware miniatures:

100_4314 100_4315

actually even more than the ones you see in the picture.

Lots of nice clothes for my dollies, almost all in mint conditions and with the Barbie label:

100_4340

I love the pink stola and matching bag (right hand-side). The stola actually has a hook so that it can be closed.

Then again some Barbie miniatures, included a new sewing machine (this one though is just labeled “Made in Hong Kong”):

100_4291

100_4294

and like the previous one I bought last week if you turn the white “switch” the needle goes up and down.

I also got a nice  “cocktail” set and a small (but really small) Cinderella coach, it is the perfect size to be a toy for Shelly or another small doll:

100_4326 100_4312

and then, well…I really couldn’t resist…I know it is pink and huge but I picked it up for almost nothing:

100_4332 100_4333

pity that the second night-table is missing.

I’m really happy with my shopping especially because I will have  a stressful week from monday on so I needed something nice to cheer me up.

I hope you all are having a nice weekend as well.

Flea-market time!

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Today was again flea-market time and the weather was gorgeous. There were quite few dolls around but I need to be a bit “selective”. Here is what I could not leave there.

A nice vintage SISO furniture, bed with built-in shelves:

100_4126 100_4132

It doesn’t come with the original accessories and the mattress inside needs to be replaced but still it was a nice bargain :-)

Then I found 2 dolls the Barbie 12 Dancing princesses collection:

100_4142 100_4143

100_4146 100_4149

I think the red-haired one is Edeline, I don’t know who is the second one, but I really wanted Edeline and for 5 euros both I think it is ok.

I also found a beautiful Sindy for 2 euros:

They will be cleaned and join the other girls. Sindy has even the disk still fixed on the back of her head.

I got also few other small Barbie things, like a LIL friend:

100_4157

together with a Barbie cafe’:

Both the cafe’ and the LIL friend together were 3 euros. The cafe could be great to display Re-ment miniatures.

And thenk I got this!

100_4165

for 50 cents :-) I just love it! When you turn the small white switch on the right the needle go up and down quite fast.

I’m not sure we’ll manage any other flea-market till june since next weekends I will be working or in Italy but perhaps next saturday… :-D

My new Sindy

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

My new Sindy got washed and cleaned . Here she’s at the hairdresser, a small, old-looking salon run by friend of hers. It is not the most glamorous one but Sindy loves it because there she gets the best service in town an also indeed because of the old-fashion style, reminding her of her youth.

Here few pictures from when she was having her hair done:

100_3958 100_3943

100_3940 100_3950

finally dressed up properly in an original Sindy outfit (removed from the original packaging just for her):

100_3966

and finally not alone anymore ;-) but back with her sisters:

100_3998 100_3925

she’s very happy :-D

While I was at work today…

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

…one the Bratz managed to sneak into Momoko and Arianna’s house and she was totally thrilled by the loft. Obviously the girl loves toys, here she’s gaping at some of the teddies:

102_3554

and look at her cheeky grin here:

102_3550

she was even curious about Momoko’s stereo-set but not the very keen on the Beatles ‘ LPs:

102_3559

Obviously she didn’t sneak in alone since somebody took the pictures!!!

Beyond the dollhouse

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

If you need a good excuse to plan  a trip to England check this gallery out. They are pictures of the permanent exhibition displayed at the Leonardslee gardens in Sussex. It features a full 19th century estate and near-by market in 1:12 scale and it occupies a full building.  But it includes much more than this! Have a quick look:

I’m speechless! I’m already pestering my husband, we have absolutely to go there. Also the area itself is supposed to be beautiful.

And while you are in Essex you can also visit the Dollshouse Museum of Katharina Gerstorfer, ohhh….this could be really a great holiday idea!!!

My weekend finds

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Yesterday we went finally to the first flea-market of the season. It was fairly small but I still found a couple of nice things.

I got some assorted Barbie clothes and shoes for 10 euros:

102_3340 102_3348

102_3346 102_3344

My dolls, like me, have never enough shoes :-) The highlight of the day though was this nice garden pavilion:

102_3334 102_3338

The box is pretty bashed but the set seems not to have been used at all and comes complete with instructions sheet. It was made in West Germany by Theo Klein, most probably in the seventies. It is for 30 cm dolls and I paid it 3,50 euros, good price :-) On the side of the box you can see the picture of the second set of garden furniture on sale at the time:

102_3337-1

That was all for yesterday (at least for me, my husband found a nice carrera car).

Today instead we visited a small specialized toys fair: they were selling only model trains and model cars, no dolls at all, but it was my husband to be interested in it so I tagged along. I still though managed to snap something up and the girls were delighted. I was not sure about the size but for 2 euros I took it anyway and I think size-wise it works fine. What is it? A kicker!!!

102_3365

The metal bars really rotate and it comes also with a set of small balls to be kicked. Here some details:

102_3370

102_3363

so, all together a good start of the “hunting”season :-)

Barbie loves fashion

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

Browsing around I found on Vogue this nice gallery of Barbie dressed by designers , a quick history of modern fashion…in miniature :-)

One doll is missing from there though, the one dressed by Karen Walker, check the video out here. It is really interesting and you can have a peek at the clothes, delightful :-) Our heroine is wearing fashions that are actually miniature reproductions of pieces from this year collection.

If this is not enough for you have a look at some of the pictures from the Barbie exhibition at the pret-a-porter fair in Paris:

An exhibition of Barbie dolls is held at the pret-a-porter Paris Fair in Paris, France, March 7, 2009.
It looks like our girl is really busy this year :-)

My new addiction : Polyvore

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

I’m not sure I ever let this out but I love clothes, bags, shoes, costume jewellery, make-up….ok …ok…I think you’ve got the picture :-)

The only thing restraining me by buying even more (and trust me…I buy enough) is money and my weight. All of this to say that today I got totally fascinated by a new site I landed on: Polyvore!!!

You can create sets putting together pictures of clothes and fashion accessories like this one below (not created by me):

♥With Love♥
♥With Love♥ – by ☺kim☺(Just dance,gonna be okay) on Polyvore.com

but even better you can incorporate in them also dolls themes like the ones below (again not created by me):

Barbie Girl
Barbie Girl – by SweetestDesire08 on Polyvore.com

Red Lips
Red Lips – by Bobette on Polyvore.com

What else should I say? I’m going to start creating my sets and you need to check it out!
