Playing time

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

I don’t remember how I landed on the DigitalDollhouse site, but I love it. You can start playing for free furnishing rooms in the Victorian dollhouse. You get 250 coins at the beginning as freebie to buy few pieces of furniture, plus each day there’s an item offered for free on the site.

250 is not an awful amount of money since most interesting pieces are 30 coins or more, but if you like it you can always buy more coins or earn them in different ways (for example inviting friends).

Here is my first try at it (the room was empty at the beginning) and I still have 140 coins:

Happy playing :-)

Ken and Barbie starring in Toy Story 3

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

I saw yesterday the new trailer of Toy Story 3 and I can’t wait to watch it!!! From what I can see the movie looks amazing!!! But best of all two of our favourite characters make their appearance in it: Barbie and Ken!!! They are both dressed in what are clearly eighties clothes, I mean…look at him:

He’s definitely Animal Lovin’ Barbie Ken from 1988, see for comparison here the doll how it appears in the original commercial from 1988:

She’s Great Shape Barbie:

isn’t she gorgeous?

In the background you can clearly see what looks to me like the Barbie Dream House from 1983:

the scene where they meet is so “cheesily” sweet :-)

but then something obviously goes wrong along the way since he’s spotted gambling:

and at one point she seems not so happy with him anymore, it looks like they had already their problems back then:

I just wonder why he changes clothes and she doesn’t :-(

Can’t wait for summer to come and watch it :-D

Dolls day and …a nice comic ;-)

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

My sister-in-law and I had a dolls day a couple of weeks ago. We took lots of pictures, talked of course about dolls and …Played around :-)

Here are some pictures of the meeting, Dani was just totally taken by Brad (who wouldn’t?):

As you can see he got quite a warm welcome ;-) The dress she’s wearing was made by Ursula.

The other girls in meantime were taking coffee and pastries:

Arianna also showed them some new pieces she acquired for the house:

and at the end of the day Ursula even prepared a super-funny comic ;-) read it here.

I bet they could be beautiful props for dolls. Bathroom, kitchen, living-room and garden! Have a look at them on the Konica Minolta site. They look so…Kawai!!! :-) Found via paperkraft.

Flea-market time!!!

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

So…despite having played Munchkins till 1 am yesterday night and having drunk several glasses of wine in the process (this last one together with a friend of ours, my husband doesn’t drink) we managed to get up fairly early today and be in Bonn at 9:15 :-)

The flea-market was as I remembered: huge and with some sellers having ebay prices, but I still I managed to buy quite  a lot with the 21 euros spent for what you see below..

I got a nice high-chair and pram, shelly size:

100_4287 100_4288

I love the fact that they have the Fisher Price label on them, like real ones, and they match some other nursery accessories I bought with another set.

Believe it or not, at 2,50 euros each they were the most expensive stuff I bought today :-)

I got a sweet Monchichi, not vintage but original for 1 euro:

she’s minty minty and in need of clothes.

Then a LLL StrongHeart  prince for 50 cents ;-)

and this beautiful Teresa with original dress:

I really like the Teresa face mold, in case you didn’t know this yet :-D

I picked up lots of  Tupperware miniatures:

100_4314 100_4315

actually even more than the ones you see in the picture.

Lots of nice clothes for my dollies, almost all in mint conditions and with the Barbie label:

I love the pink stola and matching bag (right hand-side). The stola actually has a hook so that it can be closed.

Then again some Barbie miniatures, included a new sewing machine (this one though is just labeled “Made in Hong Kong”):

and like the previous one I bought last week if you turn the white “switch” the needle goes up and down.

I also got a nice  “cocktail” set and a small (but really small) Cinderella coach, it is the perfect size to be a toy for Shelly or another small doll:

and then, well…I really couldn’t resist…I know it is pink and huge but I picked it up for almost nothing:

pity that the second night-table is missing.

I’m really happy with my shopping especially because I will have  a stressful week from monday on so I needed something nice to cheer me up.

I hope you all are having a nice weekend as well.

My favourite figure

Friday, May 8th, 2009

This post is about my favourite figure: Arianna. Why a post about her? To join the competition ( see here) launched by Fortress of Testicular Fortitude.

The girl has quite a good taste in men (see her  here flirting with the handyman  and again here with Brad Pitt, both from amithi, during the move last year)and she was totally smitten by the stormtrooper so she insisted on joining the competition ;-) We are actually both great Star Wars fans.

Arianna is an Obitsu girl, both body and head, with beautiful pink hair. They are the only “crazy thing in her life, as for the rest she is quite well behaved. She loves oriental furniture and food, listening at oldies and collecting dolls and teddy bears. As mentioned before she’s, together with Momoko, the permanent resident of THE HOUSE. How she managed this, it is still a mystery to the other girls living in my flat, since all of them coveted the mansion.

I love her because she’s fully poseable, like a real action figure, but still delicate and feminine like a true fashion doll. I like her slender figure, pink hair and very white skin. I also think her eyes give her a very enigmatic look, you never understand if she’s annoyed, indifferent or just very cheeky :-)

Here is Arianna in her house, her pride and joy.

Tidying up the spices in the top-of-the-notch kitchen (unfinished since she’ still hunting for a decent table):

Cleaning the cats’ toilet (the girls own 2 nice kittens, still un-named):

100_4002

as you can see by the way she holds the green thingy she’s still not sure how you do this, since normally Momoko takes care of it but she got fed-up with it and said it is Arianna’s turn!!!

Here she’s actually relaxing on the sofa in the lounge-room with Momoko (you can see also the second pet):

100_4010 100_4013

Below she’ in her favourite “room”, the loft, where the girls keep their dolls and teddies (but they are mostly Arianna’s) and all the the entertainment equipment (stereo, laptop, Nintendo):

100_4016

a quick look to the girls’s bedroom and Arianna caught while trying to hoover the walking-in (messy) wardrobe. She was not happy I followed here even while she was trying to be a good housewife:

100_4019 100_4022

and at the end of the day she normally takes a nice bite on the balcony, if the weather is good enough. Today she kept light with escargot (yummy!!!) and a glass of wine, all alone…hoping to have the stormtrooper joining her very soon ;-)

While I was at work today…

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

…one the Bratz managed to sneak into Momoko and Arianna’s house and she was totally thrilled by the loft. Obviously the girl loves toys, here she’s gaping at some of the teddies:

102_3554

and look at her cheeky grin here:

102_3550

she was even curious about Momoko’s stereo-set but not the very keen on the Beatles ‘ LPs:

Obviously she didn’t sneak in alone since somebody took the pictures!!!

Barbie Malibu Dream House Tour

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Wow!!!Have you seen the new video from All Doll’d Up? A tour of Barbie Malibu Dream House by Jonathan Adler:

I just wished the shoes in the closet were not all the same model :-(

Beyond the dollhouse

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

If you need a good excuse to plan  a trip to England check this gallery out. They are pictures of the permanent exhibition displayed at the Leonardslee gardens in Sussex. It features a full 19th century estate and near-by market in 1:12 scale and it occupies a full building.  But it includes much more than this! Have a quick look:

I’m speechless! I’m already pestering my husband, we have absolutely to go there. Also the area itself is supposed to be beautiful.

And while you are in Essex you can also visit the Dollshouse Museum of Katharina Gerstorfer, ohhh….this could be really a great holiday idea!!!
