Still redressing

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Do you know how it is when you start playing with dolls…it is very hard to stop :-)

So, here again few pictures from my fun evening.

Jett is again modeling a swimsuit that came with the the Top models girls:

Teresa was a bit amused by a Barbie lingeries set from the ’80, I think it looks super-classy on her:

and my Bratz princess couldn’t wait to jump into the Sugar Mag outfit I received in the mail last week:

And now I really should start to get ready for the bed, I wish all of you a nice beginning of the week! And remember…only 4 weeks to Xmas, new dollies coming LOL.

Redressing

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

I finally deboxed the Top Models I bought yesterday and the dolls are really nice but the outfits they come with are the real hit! Here a couple of pictures of Teresa and Summer:

There were so many from the girls wishing to try the clothes out that we decided to have bit of fun. Here is one of my Kitties wearing Teresa outfit and also the bikini. Both are a tight fit on her but she still managed to squeeze in:

They really look faboulous though on Jett:

The pictures do not give her justice, the light is not the right one. It would be nice to try taking some pictures on the beach next summer :-)

Fashion dolls photo contest

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Today are finally on line the first pictures of the 2008 Photo contest organized by the italian fashion dolls club (also Yahoo group) I belong to. The collectors/photographers who participate needs to go through 8 challenges (themes) using a model of their own choice (always the same model for each of the 8 challenges, one for each participant), here you can see the models, the short bios are in italian. The first theme is “Tributes to a fashion designer”, I particularly like the colours of the “Gucci picture” and also some of the outfits like the one inspired to “Just Cavalli” creations.

Enjoy it! I did :-)

Doll bargain of the day

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Today I went out to do shopping and what did I buy? But dolls of course. I found these two beauties all alone at InterToys. They were already reduced to 10 euros each and today there was an additional 20%  discount on all items so I paid them 8 euros each, how could I leave them there?

Here is Teresa:

and here is Summer:

At the moment I’m cooking for a family “reunion” so no time for deboxing them. But I hope to free the girls tomorrow and then I will post new pictures :-)

Ask Dr. Eldritch

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Most probably I’m the only fashion doll collector-internet addicted-blogger who didn’t know it but maybe…maybe not. So if you never saw it either start to read what looks like the most weird, funny, hilarious webcomic I ever saw: “Ask Dr. Eldritch”. Main actors are of course dolls, even if I bet a couple of them will NEVER stand in our vitrines. I plan to read more episodes during the weekend, if you have  a bit of time have a look at it as well ;-)

Baby Matylda

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Have a look at the beautiful site from Magdalena Babinska!!! I love her paper dolls, her baby Matylda is amazing but everything there looks superb. You can find Matylda on the downloads page. Check also her blog, there the artist has more sets to dress the little cutie, like this one for example. The blog unfortunately is not in english but the illustrations speak for themselves :-)

Dolls calendar

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

I discovered recently the “Giveaway of the Day” site. I love it! Each day you can download for free a licensed software, I mean…something that normally comes with a price tag on it :-) (I’m not talking about trial versions or sharewares/freewares). The offer is limited to one day so you have just 24 hours to grab it free of charge! One of the things I downloaded is “Wondershare Photo Collage Studio”. You can create with it greetings cards, digital scrap albums and calendars amongst other things.

Playing around with it I decided to give it a go in creating a small dolls calendar. The application is quite powerful and it has quite few options you can set to change the appearance of your documents, but I just took the standard template, didn’t edit anything at all and just dropped my pictures in.

Here are the first 4 months:

If I have the time I would like to play around more with it, take new pictures and perhaps offer a calendar (PDF format) to my readers for end of December. Or perhaps I could post a couple of months as high definition pictures each month…

What do you think?

Nice papercraft props and dioramas

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

I found  recently some nice paper-models that could be cute props for small and medium sized dolls, perhaps you are interested in them as well. Here you can get a set made of food boxes and an old fashion TV. I really like the TV!

If instead you like vintage entertainment systems have a look at these great NES play-consoles, just go to the site and scroll down toward the end of the page. These ones are in 1/8 scale, they could work out also for Skipper ;-)

But the one I really love is the small garden-shed, as soon as I saw  it I remembered having seen last saturday in a shop here some dolls, Shelly-sized. They are dressed in delightful Hello Kitty  outfits and are packed together with garden tools. How nice would they look together? The garden shed comes anyway with the templates for the tools :-)

Happy crafting!

New clothes

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

Momoko and Arianna got new clothes :-) My sister in law made them (she’s really good at it) and the girls were over the moon, they love clothes like me! Here a couple of pictures:

Thanks Ursula!

Coraline dolls and random links

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

Since I saw the trailer for the movie I cannot wait to watch it in February. It looks great. As I think you understood by now I love stop motion movies and the story seems enchanting. The password to enter the site is “buttoneyes”, but you will need more of them, read the great post from Toycutter blog to find them out. Waiting for it I will most probably buy the book.

The first thought that came to my mind when I saw the trailer was actually how to get hold of some dolls, ok…I admit I’m a bit single minded ;-) I would have loved for the moment some paperdolls or even better a papermodel but I couldn’t find any of them. If anybody knows where I can find a papermodel please let me know! I found though the italian trailer for the book

thanks to JacketFlap site, thank you :-)

I saw Forbidden Planet will sell some figures starting in february but to be honest they look more like static figures rather than dolls. I found though these interesting serie of articles on Mary  Robinette Kowal journal on how she created three OOAK dolls commissioned by Subterranean Press. I just browse quickly through 2 of them but I plan to read them well and carefully after I’ve done the boring bit of the day (AKA ironing) ;-)

Here I found pictures of the Neca’s puppets and then again a great article about the set of the movie from Animation World Network site.

I still want some papermodels though :-(
